Prior to joining NBC Weather Plus, Raphael was a freelance weather anchor at News 12 Westchester, in his home county. He was the weather intern at Good Morning America, and WNBC-TV in New York City. He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Brooklyn College, and completes a Broadcast Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University in 2008.

Most harrowing weather experience: Driving on I-95 during a thunderstorm. Downpours so heavy I couldn’t see five feet in front of me. Not fun.

Ever share you name with a hurricane? Not yet. When my name pops up on the list of names, (2006 was the last time) it’s usually spelled with an “f”… but I’ll take it.

Biggest Inspiration: My family
